exercise ball workout
I’m looking to purchase an exercise ball… what size?

I recently purchased some workout DVDs that require me to have an exercise ball… and upon looking to buy one, I’ve noticed that they come in several different sizes.

I’m 22 years old, 5’7″ tall, and I weigh about 125 pounds.

Does anyone have experience with exercise balls, who could perhaps tell me what size I should purchase?

Thanks so much.

When you stand next to an exercise ball, it should be even or slightly above your knee level. The best way to size up your ball is by sitting on it. When you sit on the ball, your knees should be bent at a 90-degree angle and your thighs should be parallel or even with the floor. Find your height and see which ball size you should try first.

The following chart shows a slight variation of recommended heights for the different ball sizes you can choose from.

Recommended ball size based on height:

Under 4’8″
45 cm ball

4’8” to 5’3”
55 cm ball

5’4” to 5’10
65 cm ball

5’10 to 6’4
75cm ball

SO you need a 65 cm ball. When you buy them online or at the store it should say how big the ball is, or give you a chart that color cordinates them.
